Welcome to umbrella desensitization day with our ‘Magic 9’ (Litter C)! Watch as these adorable Vizsla puppies encounter a snapping umbrella and a micro-climate of falling water drops.
Welcome to umbrella desensitization day with our ‘Magic 9’ (Litter C)!
They were introduced to a snapping umbrella, complete with a micro-climate of falling water drops. This exercise serves as a textbook example of early puppy desensitization. Watch the YT video below to see their outstanding reaction!
Basically, we ran several consecutive tests to ensure the puppies’ reactions were stable and consistent. They still for a while, tilted heads and barked playfully at the falling drops. Then advanced forward with high confidence, wagged tails and actively jumped to grab at the framework.
Zero fear, stress or avoidance. You will even see several puppies totally ignoring the umbrella!
An umbrella is an excellent tool for training because it combines multiple triggers: a sudden visual expansion, a distinct “snapping” sound and unpredictable movement. To elevate the test, we used an umbrella that was actively wet, letting small drops of water fall right over the puppies to simulate a real-world rainy walk.
At Nerium House Kennel FCI Romania, we are proud to follow many of the principles set out by the Puppy Culture guidelines.
Desensitisation isn’t just about meeting new people or visiting new places – it is about introducing puppies to the sounds, sights, and textures of everyday life while their minds are at their most adaptable.
On May 13, our beautiful “C” litter of nine Vizsla puppies – eight gorgeous girls and one handome boy – entered the world. Since then, we have been working hard on their early development and sound conditioning programs. This week, it was time to introduce them to the ultimate household milestone: the vacuum cleaner.
So we brought out our older Dyson model for the test. Armed with a noisy motor and a spinning Direct Drive Cleaner Head, it had all the ingredients to be a bit intimidating for a litter of small puppies.
Their Reaction? Zero fear, total curiosity! These puppies did not read the script on “scary” household appliances:) Instead of hiding or showing any signs of stress, our confident crew treated the turned-on Dyson like their newest, most exciting interactive toy.
Seeing a litter show such high baseline stability and immediate curiosity is the ultimate reward.
It proves that early desensitisation works, laying the perfect foundation for these puppies to grow into bold, stable, and well-adjusted adult dogs.
At Nerium House Kennel FCI Romania, we are proud to follow the principles set out by the Puppy Culture guidelines.
Disclaimer: No Dyson parts or appliances were harmed during the making of this video – though the Direct Drive head did get a thorough puppy spit-shine! Rest assured, no puppies were hurt either; the vacuum was safely guided and the entire session was closely monitored to ensure maximum fun and zero clipped paws.
For the Magic Litter C, they want it all! The chaos is officially at an all-time high here at Nerium House Kennel Romania.
Our gorgeous Vizsla puppies are officially hitting that stage where everything goes into their mouths. And so we introduced them to their very first dried rabbit ears and dried beef scalp!
In this video, watch our almost 6-week-old puppies test out their sharp teeth with some natural treats from our friends at ”Recompense Naturale” 🥩 providing 100% natural, single-ingredient, #healthy #dehydrated pet #treats for dogs and cats with absolutely no artificial additives or preservatives.
Did you know?
Dried rabbit ears are highly beneficial, low-fat, and nutritionally dense snacks for your Vizsla. These single-protein treats satisfy a Vizsla’s high chew drive while remaining incredibly gentle on sensitive stomachs. Ears with hair offer insoluble fiber, adding roughage to bulk up dog’s stool and help naturally express anal glands.
Dried beef scalp is a premium, long-lasting, and nutrient-dense chew that is exceptionally well-suited for high-energy breeds like the Vizsla. As a single-protein treat made entirely of pure canine dental gold, it satisfies an intense chew drive while remaining completely digestible and gentle on sensitive digestive tracks.

What do you do when you have nine energetic Vizsla puppies who are ready to explore the great outdoors, but are not yet fully vaccinated? You roll out the puppy stroller:)
Our Magic 9 Litter “C” babies just took their very first turn outside, and it was a massive success.
To keep the initial experience manageable and focused, we started the outdoor adventures with a small group: two adventurous girls and one brave boy.
Safety First: As a breeder, health and safety are always the top priorities. With their second crucial puppy vaccination coming up next, these puppies do not have full immunity just yet. That means no wandering around the open yard or touching the ground where unprotected tracking could leave harmful pathogens. However, a lack of full vaccination does not mean socialisation has to stop. The puppy stroller is an excellent tool for this developmental stage. It keeps the litter completely contained, elevated, and safe from ground-level germs, while still allowing them to experience the world outside the whelping box.
Soaking Up the Sun and Unlocking the Senses: Even though they could not run free in the grass just yet, this stroller ride provided a massive mental workout for their rapidly developing brains. They also enjoyed the warmth of the beautiful weather and fresh air on their coats.
Neighborhood Traffic: They listened to passing cars, helping to desensitize them to the sounds of engines and moving vehicles.
Nearby Construction Works: They heard active construction works from a safe distance, turning what could easily become a scary noise into a completely normal, everyday background sound.
Building this kind of confidence early ensures that these Vizslas grow into stable, adaptable adult dogs who can handle busy environments with ease.
This stroller ride was just a brief introduction to the world outside. The rest of the pack is waiting for their turn to see the sights. Once that next round of vaccines is safely completed, the boundaries will come down. Full yard exploration and direct contact with the grass will be unlocked very soon for the entire litter!!
Watch the video to see our young Vizsla co-pilots enjoying their very first stroller ride and taking in the sounds of the neighborhood.
If you have ever tried to trim an adult dog’s nails, you might know the struggle: the squirming, the pulling away, and the overall stress for both you and your pup. But what if nail day didn’t have to be a battle? What if it felt like a relaxing, luxury spa treatment instead?
In our latest video, we are giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how our Litter “C” puppies (born on 13 May) stay completely calm, relaxed, and “zen” while getting their manicures done!
The secret to the perfectly still, relaxed puppies you see in the video isn’t magic – it’s early preparation! These babies are definitely not strangers to having their paws handled. We believe in setting our puppies up for a lifetime of success, which is why their grooming journey started when they were just days old. Through the Puppy Culture program and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), we begin gently desensitising our litters to tactile sensations almost immediately. By tickling their tiny toes with cotton swabs, touching their pads, and holding their feet daily during those critical first weeks of life, we teach their developing brains that paw handling is safe, normal and nothing to fear.
Thanks to that early foundation, nail trimming day has evolved into a peaceful ritual rather than a chore. In the video, you will see exactly how we turn a standard trim into a canine “spa” day.
Keeping a puppy’s nails short is vital for their physical development. Long nails can alter how a puppy’s foot interacts with the ground, potentially damaging their skeletal alignment, tracking, and joint health as they grow. By making this process stress-free right from the start, we ensure that our puppies will grow into adult dogs who happily offer their paws to their future families or professional groomers without an ounce of anxiety.

Watch what happens when our magic number nine Litter “C” puppies get their first raw marrow bones!
At just about 5 weeks old, these little champions got their very first taste of raw marrow bones – and the reactions were absolutely priceless!
Introducing raw bones at this stage is incredible for their development. It satisfies their natural urge to chew, helps soothe those incoming baby teeth and provides mental workout.

Time is flying! Our sweet Litter “C” puppies are 3 weeks and a half old and slowly turning into active, curious little explorers. And we have soooo many updates!!
Milestones, big changes and growing paws
Now their eyes are wide open, while they are not fully capable of standing at all times – often looking like cute, wobbly toddlers – they are successfully pushing themselves up on all fours and taking real, coordinated steps. The first baby teeth began breaking through the gums, but we’re still safe from the “shark bite” phase for now:) They found their voices and our nursery is getting much livelier! The puppies are beginning to “talk” to us and each other, experimenting with their very first playful barks and adorable vocalisations. Also, they go potty on their own and no longer rely entirely on their mother to stimulate elimination.
Expanding their world
The new play pen area: our puppies have officially outgrown their original whelping box – which is actually a wooden playhouse! Their new play pen is designed to challenge and stimulate them: we have introduced multiple floor textures. They are now interacting with various motility items and an array of sensory toys. We will change or swap out at least one or two objects every few days. Several open crates have been added directly to the play area. This allows the puppies to voluntarily wander inside to sleep, creating a positive association with crating long before they leave for their new homes. Last but not least, there is a potty area and we are currently teaching them to use designated spots to eliminate.
Another big milestone: transitioning to solid food
The puppies are transitioning smoothly using a nutrient-dense – Puppy Culture mush recipe tailored for optimal gut health and structural growth. We basically blend ground lean muscle beef, baked pumpkin and goat’s milk. We’ve also started adding professional starter mother & puppy kibble.
Even though the puppies are diving into their new culinary adventures with enthusiasm, their wonderful mother, Amulett, is still very much on duty! She continues to nurse them regularly. Her milk provides crucial maternal antibodies and comfort as they adapt to their expanding world. Amulett is doing an incredible job balancing her role as a patient teacher and a dedicated mom.
