If you have ever tried to trim an adult dog’s nails, you might know the struggle: the squirming, the pulling away, and the overall stress for both you and your pup. But what if nail day didn’t have to be a battle? What if it felt like a relaxing, luxury spa treatment instead?
In our latest video, we are giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how our Litter “C” puppies (born on 13 May) stay completely calm, relaxed, and “zen” while getting their manicures done!
The secret to the perfectly still, relaxed puppies you see in the video isn’t magic – it’s early preparation! These babies are definitely not strangers to having their paws handled. We believe in setting our puppies up for a lifetime of success, which is why their grooming journey started when they were just days old. Through the Puppy Culture program and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), we begin gently desensitising our litters to tactile sensations almost immediately. By tickling their tiny toes with cotton swabs, touching their pads, and holding their feet daily during those critical first weeks of life, we teach their developing brains that paw handling is safe, normal and nothing to fear.
Thanks to that early foundation, nail trimming day has evolved into a peaceful ritual rather than a chore. In the video, you will see exactly how we turn a standard trim into a canine “spa” day.
Keeping a puppy’s nails short is vital for their physical development. Long nails can alter how a puppy’s foot interacts with the ground, potentially damaging their skeletal alignment, tracking, and joint health as they grow. By making this process stress-free right from the start, we ensure that our puppies will grow into adult dogs who happily offer their paws to their future families or professional groomers without an ounce of anxiety.
