Desensitisation isn’t just about meeting new people or visiting new places – it is about introducing puppies to the sounds, sights, and textures of everyday life while their minds are at their most adaptable.
On May 13, our beautiful “C” litter of nine Vizsla puppies – eight gorgeous girls and one handome boy – entered the world. Since then, we have been working hard on their early development and sound conditioning programs. This week, it was time to introduce them to the ultimate household milestone: the vacuum cleaner.
So we brought out our older Dyson model for the test. Armed with a noisy motor and a spinning Direct Drive Cleaner Head, it had all the ingredients to be a bit intimidating for a litter of small puppies.
Their Reaction? Zero fear, total curiosity! These puppies did not read the script on “scary” household appliances:) Instead of hiding or showing any signs of stress, our confident crew treated the turned-on Dyson like their newest, most exciting interactive toy.
Seeing a litter show such high baseline stability and immediate curiosity is the ultimate reward.
It proves that early desensitisation works, laying the perfect foundation for these puppies to grow into bold, stable, and well-adjusted adult dogs.
At Nerium House Kennel FCI Romania, we are proud to follow the principles set out by the Puppy Culture guidelines.
Disclaimer: No Dyson parts or appliances were harmed during the making of this video – though the Direct Drive head did get a thorough puppy spit-shine! Rest assured, no puppies were hurt either; the vacuum was safely guided and the entire session was closely monitored to ensure maximum fun and zero clipped paws.
